Lamorinda Moms Club (http://www.lamorindamomsclub.org) is a social networking club that consists of about 500 moms located just East of San Francisco Bay Area. Recently celebrated its 10 years anniversary (http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctimes/news/local/states/california/contra_costa_county/central_contra_costa/14938351.htm?template=contentModules/printstory.jsp), the club has a non-profit status that operated solely by all volunteer members.The club website was almost as old as the club was and in badly needed of a more robust functionalities and most importantly maintainable by its volunteers. We are proud to announce that our new website was launched in June and is powered by Joomla!. After evaluating many Opensource solutions, we settled on Joomla! for a couple of reasons. Joomla! as a stand-alone application does a pretty good job at creating a website that is easy to manage. Here, we used a few more extensions such as community builder, events calendar and forum to help create an online community. Its growing library of extensions will allow us to add new features and make upgrades easily in the future.
